Red wine is touted as having excellent health-giving qualities such as the resveratrol content found in the grapes used to make the wine. We must remember that alcohol is a toxin. The liver must process it. Any benefits derived from resveratrol are countered by the amount of work the liver must do to remove the toxin from our bodies. This is what most research seems to now bear out, and it is research I support because it makes sense. Occasional use of alcohol in minimal quantities is fine for many people.
